The three poems below are about my experiences as a SASAH student; whether it be about the people I've met, or the places I've discovered.
University College
By Gray Brogden
There is something
about this place
This campus, these people
I mean look at this building
Towering over it all
made of old stones
How many stories have
wandered it’s halls
Think of all the knowledge
so ancient
Yet still seems to promise
new beginnings
Near Music
By Gray Brogden
How much life did you live to lead you here
to this campus
to this classroom
to this moment
Leaning against an old, wooden desk
staring through stained glass
seeing so far past the space and time
in front of your knowing eyes
Can a song make your life flash
like a Rolodex in your mind?
Can it remind you of that
which you wish to forget?
Undeclared
By Gray Brogden
I can see your mind in mine
It looks like an abstract painting
An abstract painting of abstract paintings
Like a kaleidoscope
That blurs at the edges
Makes everything seem just like magic
Maybe that is why you take an
Extra moment before you speak
An extra second
To untangle the web in your head
To feed your thoughts through a prism
So the rest of us may understand them
I do not envy your existence
But by god,
it must be fascinating
